Networks and Associations
The UWEI is linked to the following networks listed below:
Women for Educational Achievement of the Women’s Leadership Council
The United Way of Salt Lake’s Women’s Leadership Council has an effort titled, Women for Educational Achievement. It focuses on the following goals: elementary school students reading on grade level by 3rd grade, high school graduation rates improving through mentoring and engagement opportunities, and an emphasis on girls and teens obtaining a post-secondary degree. To achieve these goals, the WPN will begin working with United Way of Salt Lake’s Community Welcome and Learning Centers. Members of the WPN will be encouraged to get involved to help empower girls and teens to create a brighter and more prosperous future for themselves and their families.
Utah Women in Higher Education Network (UWHEN)
UWHEN was founded to advance women’s leadership on campuses in Utah through identifying women leaders, developing their leadership abilities, encouraging the use of those abilities, advancing women’s careers, linking them to other women and mentors, and supporting women in mid- and executive-level positions throughout their careers. Women in this network are also interested in linking together to help motivate girls/women in Utah to attend and graduate from college.
Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP)
The purpose of the Utah Women and Leadership Project is to 1) conduct descriptive research on the status of women in top leadership positions within Utah; 2) assist Utah women in finding women’s groups, networks, and associations throughout the state; 3) link these groups together to enhance networking; and 4) provide additional links and resources to help prepare and advance women for leadership within the state.
