Multicultural Youth Conference at Weber State

Weber State Campus

Multicultural Youth Preparing for the “Real World” Conference was held at Weber State University on April 27-28, 2012. The theme of the conference was “4 Real” featuring Shayla Rivera and Dr. Brenda Burrell as the keynote speakers.  The conference offered workshops on careers, planning, proper etiquette, self-esteem, scholarship applications, financing college and dealing with racial and gender stereotypes.

We offered a “Come to Campus” night by hosting the “4 Real Talent Show” for event participants and their parents. The conference invited high school students 9th-12 grade from across the state and Las Vegas, NV. This year we hosted 458 high school 9th-12 grade students, plus counselors and teachers and over 72 workshop presenters’, 60 volunteers/advisors/school counselors, and 15 staff members during the day portion of the event. We had 550people in attendance at the “Come to Campus” night. For more information contact Asha’ S. Jones at ashajones@weber.edu
